FAQs
Account Customers
Scenic World encourages account customers. To be on account you will need to complete our credit application form. Download credit application form here. Once filled in, email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or post to PO Box 1042 Katoomba NSW 2780. Payments by account customers will be at the same terms as those by non-account customers, the difference being that you have the option to pay after the visit subject to the standard terms and conditions set out in the next paragraph.
Payments
All invoicing from Scenic World is done at rack rate with the group rate being applicable upon payment within 14 days. Payment beyond 14 days incurs the rack rate as invoiced. These terms apply to all of our travel company customers and are non-negotiable.
Those qualified travel companies who pay on the day of their visit via cash, cheque or credit card will pay at the applicable group rate. Please note payment via credit card incurs a 3% surcharge fee. Pre-payments will also qualify for payment at the group rate for participating companies.
FOC Policy
Scenic World has a detailed FOC (free of charge) policy that we apply to all our travel company customers.
Our FOC policy for the rides only option differs from the FOC policy for combined packages which include rides and meals. Details of our FOC policies are downloadable, simply click on the following links: Rides Only FOC Policy and Combined Package FOC Policy. Please check details if unsure.
Scenic World implements our FOC policies across all companies. We would appreciate your guides and drivers to be fully informed of the details of our policy and to be aware that we do enforce it. Please understand that your circumstance may be a one off to your company but it is likely to have occurred at Scenic World many times. It is a condition of FOC entry that guides/tour leaders present their company identification each time they visit Scenic World in order to be eligible for their FOC. Policies are in place to ensure we provide our visitors with a courteous and efficient service at all times.
Ride Reservations
Reservations for rides for groups under 10 are not necessary at Scenic World. Our rides can all accommodate large groups with the Scenic Railway and Scenic Cableway having a capacity of 84 people and the Scenic Skyway has a capacity of 76 people.  All rides operate approximately every 10 minutes and customers board on a first come first serve basis. Our customer service staff are always available to assist if your staff are unsure of how to best manage your groups visit. Reservations are not accepted for groups of less than ten paying passengers and will not be confirmed.
Reservations for rides for groups larger than 10 pax, are simply a notification of visit. This helps us with our planning and management of each day’s groups. A reservation does not change the basic first come first served basis for loading rides.
Scenic World suggests that requests for pre-printed tickets are not submitted until the number of people travelling in your group is certain and the number of tickets needed finalised. Tickets can be pre-printed with a minimum of 40 people on any tour with a fee of 1.5% applicable if the number falls below 27 people.
Changing the number of tickets required upon arrival actually results in a slower process than simply asking for the required number of tickets on arrival. Our ticket machine can print 35 tickets per minute so the wait is usually of little impact.
East Station
The Skyway East Station, on the Echo Point side of the Jamison Valley (near Lilianfels Hotel) is an ideal starting or finishing point for coach customers. All guests can have a quick and easy start to the Scenic World experience. The eastern station has full coach access and comfortable coach disembarking for the group (but not parking). Guests can take the Skyway over to Scenic World’s main building which is a great way to arrive.   This access point suits those groups with both driver and separate guide/escorts.  For groups over 10 people that have advised they will be arriving via the Skyway, tickets will be ready at the main building arrival station next to the restaurant.
The drive from the East station to Scenic World is less than three minutes and less than five minutes from Echo Point.
Further information regarding the ride experiences at Scenic World can be found on this website in the Experiences section.
Food and Beverage Reservations
Reservations for meals at Scenic World’s Skyway Restaurant are essential. A reserved time for groups in the Skyway Restaurant is imperative and punctuality is appreciated. Where unforeseen circumstances arise and your group is unable to arrive at the allocated time on the day, please inform Scenic World staff as soon as possible. The best phone number to call for updates on your arrival is (02) 4780 0250. All groups will be booked into the restaurant for a period of one hour. Where cancellation occurs within 24 hours of the intended time for lunch, cancellation fees apply.
Food and Beverage
Scenic World has three food & beverage outlets.
Our Skyway Restaurant is the main dining option for groups. We are able to seat 200 people comfortably in a sitting and the revolving floor ensures that every diner is able to partake in the splendid views of the Three Sisters and Jamison Valley.
Our Cableway Café and Kiosk are the two other dining options available at Scenic World. Casual purchases are available at these outlets. As demand from FIT walk up visitors is strong in these outlets, they are not able to accommodate group bookings.
Our food and beverage outlets operate during daytime hours and are not open in the evening for general dining. We are however able to accommodate groups in the evening for functions and events at corporate rates, please contact Alana Silk on (02) 4780 0246 or via email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. International Buffet
Our primary dining option for groups is our buffet. Scenic World caters to groups from all over the world daily and we endeavour to accommodate all dining requirements from the various markets. We seek to provide a wide variety of menu choices, resulting in a truly ‘International Buffet’.
With notice we are able to provide specialised dishes (usually at no additional cost) such as Kim-chi or vegetarian/Jain dishes. Simply go to the Tour Group page of the Dining section of this website where you will find a sample buffet menu. Fresh food is purchased according to availability however we cannot guarantee the availability of any one dish unless it has been specifically requested and confirmed.
Scenic World can also offer alternative menus for those wanting table service. This applies to the Skyway Restaurant only and the menus include fish and chips served with salad or banquet options with a variety of dishes.
The FOC policy for meals is not the same as for rides. Please study the terms and conditions and if uncertain contact us when making reservations.
The Scenic Walkway
A fantastic enhancement and value add to our three paid rides is the Scenic Walkway. We suggest that you allow time for your clients to enjoy this beautiful feature. Approximately 2.8km of elevated boardwalk enables visitors to experience walking along the valley floor without danger to themselves or the risk of damage to the environment. An amazing range of flora (and the occasional fauna) can be seen from the Scenic Walkway and there are options to do shorter sections of the walkway (15 and 30 minute loops) should time or other constraints be a factor in not being able to complete the entire length (50 minutes). Our staff can provide information to guides on how best to experience the walkway. A 300 metre section of the walkway is also wheelchair accessible.
Despite being an outdoor activity, the Scenic Walkway is still a great option for groups in wet weather. The walkway is somewhat sheltered from the rain by the tree canopy, with the rainforest taking on a completely different yet stunningly beautiful atmosphere.
Time of visit
Many of our groups arrive on day trips from Sydney. This naturally leads to a peak period between 11.00am and 2.00pm. With our knowledge and experience of this, we are able to manage the process each day with groups able to have an enjoyable and successful visit. Please remember that if you are visiting during this period, as at other times, we cannot favour one group over another. All groups that visit Scenic World are treated equally and our high level of customer service ensures that the process of experiencing the rides runs fairly and smoothly.
If you are able to schedule your visit before or after our peak period, it may make for an even more enjoyable experience for your clients.
