This year sees the launch of the Blue Mountains’ public schools first short film festival, Film By The Eucalypts.

Film By The Eucalypts helps promote the teaching of visual literacy and filmmaking through the creation of high quality, entertaining, informative short films using the NSW English Syllabus and Creative Arts Syllabus as the foundation for collaborative and creative work.
The focus is on student learning and engagement to create films of a high quality that show technical knowledge and understanding of filmmaking.

Participating schools include Blaxland Public School, Glenbrook Public School, Mount Riverview Public School, Springwood Public School, Ellison Public School, Warrimoo Public School, Winmalee Public School, Wentworth Falls Public School, and Megalong Public School.
Students are currently shooting and editing their films hoping to make the cut as one of the top 24 movie finalists.

On November the 7th 2018, all finalists and wider community members will be invited to view the inaugural Film by the Eucalypts opening night at the Blue Mountains Theatre & Community Hub, Springwood.
