The Best Playgrounds in the Upper Mountains
1. Bert Hinkler Park
Named after the famous aviator Bert Hinkler, this park is small but cute, just like your kids. In addition to the standard slide and swings, there’s an old fashioned metal plane complete with steering wheel.
So bring your aviator glasses and bring her in to land. Cnr Katoomba & Warialda Streets, Katoomba
2. Pirate Ship Playground
Ahoy me hearties, come early and you might catch a glimpse of Johnny Depp walking Pistol and Boo, either way, the pirate ship playground at Wentworth Falls Lake is a great spot.
Not only is it one the biggest playgrounds in the upper mountains but the short bushwalk around the edge of the lake make it one of the prettiest. Sinclair Crescent, Wentworth Falls
3. Memorial Gardens Playground
This park has not one, but three different playgrounds spread over three open grassed areas.
There’s also plenty of shady trees, sheltered picnic tables, electric barbeques and if it all gets too much, dive into the public pool which is open during the summer months. Prince Edward Street, Blackheath
